These pictures from Malcolm's family albums show the lives of people that parallel those of his novel, Outlaw Ford. Malcolm Macdonald lives alongside the Albion River where his family has ranched and farmed since the 1800s. He writes the River Views column for The Anderson Valley Adverstiser about local history and nature, but has been writing fiction for more than thirty years, garnering awards for both long and short forms.
He has recently completed the comic-adventure, coming-of-age novel, Outlaw Ford, and is at work on a book about American construction workers taken prisoner on Wake Island during World War Two. "There’s a story in every life. The words to describe those stories lie scattered around us like pieces to a jigsaw. Writers are the people willing to pick up the pieces and make the picture whole." Malcolm assists serious, aspiring writers of creative non-fiction and fiction in examining, and sometimes re-examining, the pieces of the literary puzzle (for negotiated fees). |
